Fresher Resume — a strong first resume in India

A fresher resume template and guide for new graduates in India: marks, projects, internships, skills and a clear objective.

A fresher resume has to do two jobs at once: prove you can do the work, and prove you will finish what you start. Projects and internships do the first; consistent dates, clear education and a focused skills list do the second.

Recommended order

  1. Contact details with a professional email address
  2. Career objective — two lines, specific to the role you want
  3. Education — degree, institution, year, percentage or CGPA
  4. Technical skills — grouped, honest, no rating bars
  5. Projects — two or three with your specific contribution
  6. Internships and training
  7. Certifications, achievements and extracurriculars

Marks and CGPA

Include them while you are a fresher — many Indian recruiters filter on them. Once you have a few years of experience, move them out and let your work carry the page.

What recruiters in India look for first

  • A clear target role in the header or objective
  • Real project work with your own contribution stated
  • Skills that match the job description in plain words
  • Consistent date formats and no unexplained gaps
  • A single page, unless you have substantial experience
