Teacher Resume — structure, skills and examples
Build a teacher resume that shows classroom impact: teaching experience, curriculum work, outcomes and the sections schools look for.
A school reading your application is looking for two things: can you manage a room of thirty children, and will you improve what they learn. Evidence beats enthusiasm for both.
Sections that matter
- Teaching experience — setting, age range, subject, dates
- Impact — outcomes you can honestly point to: progress measures, exam results, programme changes
- Curriculum and assessment — schemes of work you designed or adapted
- Professional development and certifications
- Safeguarding and pastoral responsibilities where relevant
Example bullets
- Redesigned Year 9 assessment rubrics, raising the proportion of students meeting expected progress across two terms
- Led a department reading programme for 120 students with weekly progress tracking
- Mentored two early-career teachers through their first induction year
Common mistakes
- Listing responsibilities instead of what changed because of you
- Leaving out the age range and phase — it is the first thing a head checks
- A template too decorative for a school office printer
- No references section or a note about availability
